Physiotherapy
What Is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is the assessment and treatment of pain, injury, and movement problems. It covers a wide range of conditions, from acute injuries like a sprained ankle or a muscle tear, to chronic conditions like persistent back pain, post surgical rehabilitation, and occupational injuries.
At Onward Physiotherapy, the approach is straightforward. The goal of each appointment is to understand what is causing your problem, treat it directly, and give you the tools and knowledge to manage it going forward. Initial appointments run for 45 minutes, which is enough time to take a thorough history, complete a full physical assessment, and begin treatment in the same session.
Who This Is For
Physiotherapy at Onward Physiotherapy is suited to you if:
- You have an injury that is not resolving on its own
- You want to understand why you are in pain, not just get temporary relief
- You are returning to sport, work, or exercise after an injury or period of inactivity
- You are managing a WorkCover, CTP, or Medicare claim
- You have neck pain, back pain, or joint pain that is affecting your daily life
- You have a child with a sports injury
- You have tried other practitioners without a clear diagnosis or outcome
- You need longer appointment times to properly address a complex or ongoing problem
What Is Included
Every initial appointment begins with a full subjective history. Our physiotherapists will ask about your injury or condition, your goals, your activity levels, your work demands, and what you have already tried. This gives the assessment context and shapes what is examined physically.
The physical assessment is tailored to your specific presentation. Depending on your condition this may include assessment of range of motion, strength, joint mobility, movement quality, neural sensitivity, and contributing factors from other areas of the body.
You will leave the initial appointment with a clear explanation of what is causing your problem, a treatment plan with specific goals, and exercises that are appropriate for your situation. Treatment within the initial session may include hands on manual therapy, dry needling where appropriate, and exercise prescription.
Follow up appointments are 40 minutes and build on the initial assessment, progressing treatment and exercise as your condition improves.
